Frequently Asked Questions

✦ What's the difference between Obamacare, Employer Plans, and Private Insurance? -Obamacare is not medically underwritten and you cannot be denied due to any pre-existing conditions. It is favorable for people who have a lower income (so they can capitalize on large subsidies), are on several medications and/or have major pre-existing conditions. In these cases, mid to high deductibles won’t really matter as much, as they will likely be met due to your medications and/or ongoing conditions. -Employer plans are wonderful for the employee but start to get expensive once you start to add family members. After that, the family's premium tends to skyrocket. Employers look out for their employees. If the family wants to be added, they will be paying full price and/or a convenience fee to be added on to the plan. -Private insurance is medically underwritten and based on your health. You have to complete an application, prior to receiving an approval status. If approved, you’re looking at better rates, benefits and personalized care with low to no deductibles and PPO plans.

✦ Is open enrollment the only time I can shop for health insurance? For Obamacare plans, yes, without a qualifying life event (QLE). Private insurance, on the other hand, is available year-round!
✦ Is private insurance affordable? It absolutely can be! If you are relatively healthy, you will be receiving significantly better benefits and rates. Private healthcare is focused on your health, age and gender.
✦ Are there contractual obligations? No! You can start and stop private healthcare plans at any point.
✦ How do I know if I have nationwide coverage? If you have a PPO plan, you’re in a good spot! It means you are not limited to coverage in your zip code, county, or state. Your insurance travels with you, anywhere in the US. I would caution going with any EPO, HMO, or POS plans since they are restricted and mostly only cover you in the state you are in, or in some cases, even less coverage.
✦ What fees do you charge? My clients never pay me a single penny and they have me for the lifetime of their policy. Think of me as your own personal health insurance guru!
✦ Do you offer other types of insurance plans? Absolutely, glad you asked! Outside of health insurance, I am licensed to offer my clients insurance Including dental, vision, and life insurance. I can customize plans to your needs if you’re just looking for supplemental coverage as well such as critical illness and income protection (short term disability).
